Everyday life of US Marine MOS: Avionics?
what is daily life like after your training/schooling in Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida?
is working stressful everyday?
are you always tired and exhausted afterwork everyday?
what is life like to be fixing and working on aircraft electronics for hours on a day?
do you still have a lot of energy after work to go out and do things?
or too tired so you crash out? go out and do things? or too tired so you crash out?
You PT for the minimum of 30 minutes a day as required by the Marine Corps.
Your job starts at 0730 and ends at 1630 in normal situations.
You can work 20 hour days when deployed.
At 'A' school you will go to class for the same hours stated above
and be free to study or fail your tests on your own time.
After 2 or 3 weeks you may be given weekend liberty.
There are two different life styles as an avionics technician.
If you have high grades you are likely to be assigned to AMD maintenance.
You sit at a test bench all day working on electronics gear.
If you are the very best, you can request flight status.
AMD always has some aircraft assigned.
AMD has radio, navigation, and test equipment shops.
The other thing you can get is organizational maintenance.
If you are in a helicopter or MV-22 squadron
you get might be lucky enough to get flight status.
There is no chance of that in a fighter, attack, or cargo squadron.
You work on the communications and navigation systems of the aircraft.
If you get flight status you will work more than an 8 hour day.
There is no way to tell you what your day will be like
until you know exactly what you will be doing
and that can change on a moment's notice.
