Avionics is a great job in the Marine Corps.
You can only enlist for the 6300 field, not for weapons systems but,
there are jobs for weapons systems.
Another MOS you might be interested in is electronic countermeasures.
All 6300/6400 got to the same initial "A" school and then to training for their specific systems.
Whether you repair comm, Nav, Crypto, fire control, or counter measures,
you will get excellent training and very enjoyable work if you like technology.
You'll need very good scores on your ASVAB.
Your GT should be at least 110 and you will be exposed
to a lot of algebra and some trig.
As an avionics technician, you will be required to pass your PFT bi-annually
and marksmanship annually.
You'll be required to get a green belt in MCMAP
and can go further if you want to.
Occasionally you will go on maneuvers to keep up your infantry training,
have chemical warfare (gas chamber) training,
update your water survival, etc.
You will be a Marine first; you'll have the best of both worlds,
being a Marine and having an enjoyable high tech job.
Just a suggestion if you end up in a helo or MV-22 squadron,
apply for air crew.
The hours will be longer,
you'll get SAR and SERE training,
it will be harder; but, it is very rewarding
and you continue with your primary MOS.
If you fly a certain number of combat missions (
it was 20 missions when I got mine)
you get your combat air crew wings.
If you join the Marines in the aviation field
